Be Content by Jeremy Pool

As Christians is it possible to be content in our lives?
YES—through the devotion of three key points, we can learn God’s purpose for our lives and the justifications that happen in our lives for a deeper understanding as to what God wants for us in the end.

Follow the WAYS of God
Who is God?
God is our maker, provider, redeemer, savior, friend, etc. etc.
God is holy, almighty, sovereign, Lord above all, etc. etc.
God is just, gracious, true, merciful, loyal, etc. etc.
Keys to understanding who God is reveal to us a little bit more as to what He ultimately wants for us
How do we follow His ways?
Through obedience (1 Peter 1:13-16)
Through godliness (2 Peter 3:11-13; Psalm 145:17-20)
Through devotion (Psalm 31:23-24; Psalm 136)
Through sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2)
Through contentment (1 Timothy 6:6-10)
CR: Hebrews 13:5—“being contented with the things which are at hand”

Follow the WORD of God
What is “the word of God”
The Holy Bible which is the living written word that is the proof of God (John 1:1-18)
What are God’s expectations for you in correlation with His word?
Use it against evil (Ephesians 6:17)
Use it to build up believers (Colossians 3:16)
Use it to better yourself (Psalm 119:105)
Through the Word of God we begin to see what steps it takes in order to follow Him correctly

Follow the WILL of God
What is God’s will?
His predestined, or predetermined, purpose for each individual life according to His own promises through the life and death of Jesus, His son (Ephesians 1:3-10)
What is God’s will for every follower of Him?
To be transformed by Him through the avoidance of evil (Romans 12:2)
To be sanctified through Him through the avoidance of evil (1 Thessalonians 4:3)
To be thankful because of Him through the avoidance of evil
Only through the avoidance of evil—temptation, which leads to sin—can we, as followers of God, fully understand what His will is for us.
